Massage Styles Available
This Hawaiian style of massage incorporates the concept of aloha, which focuses on love, unification with the breath, and promotes personal harmony. The goal is to not only help release muscle tension, but also mental and emotional stress.
Some differences you may notice are having the therapist's hands placed gently on you and remaining still for a few moments. The massage movements are also more long and flowing - often using the forearms instead of the hands.
As it is the most common style, you may be most familiar with this type of massage. It involves kneading strokes on the topmost layers of muscles. By relieving muscle tension in this manner, it can be found to be both relaxing and energizing. It can be helpful for general relaxation or aid in the recovery of an injury.
This technique is recommended for focusing on the "trouble spots" you may be dealing with. Here slow, deliberate strokes are used to focus on muscles deep under your skin. By relieving chronic tension, a deep tissue massage can be quite theraputic.
